How are prices fetched?

Save itad_deals.py on your computer (or a Raspberry Pi) and run it with Python 3; no packages to install:

  1. export ITAD_API_KEY=yourkey (Windows PowerShell: $env:ITAD_API_KEY="yourkey")
  2. python3 itad_deals.py – Finland by default; --country DE switches the country.
  3. The script writes metadeals.html with prices embedded and prints the deals to the terminal as well. Open the file in a browser or serve it from the Pi.
  4. It also writes prices.json. On the page published in Claude, load it with Import prices.
Where do I get a key?

The key is free and takes a couple of minutes to create:

  1. Sign in or create an account at isthereanydeal.com.
  2. Open the Apps page (isthereanydeal.com/apps/my/) and choose Register App.
  3. Name the app and save. Copy the API Key field (not the OAuth Client ID) and paste it above.
